Behind every workplace role is a person.
Shirley's creates different ways for people in retail to move, talk, connect, feel supported and feel appreciated.

Find out more about TALKCreating connection, community and opportunities for people to feel welcomed, valued and supported.
Find out more about CONNECTAppropriate support, referral and signposting, including connection with specialist organisations where Shirley's is not the right provider.
Find out more about BE SUPPORTEDPeople working in retail can face pressures that are not always visible. These can include verbal abuse, threatening behaviour, aggression, harassment and physical violence, as well as wider workplace pressures.
Shirley's is interested in the person behind the role and in what happens afterwards. How has the experience affected their wellbeing, confidence or sense of safety? What might help them reconnect and move forward?
Shirley's is not here to investigate incidents or assign blame. It aims to complement existing employer and specialist support by providing additional routes into movement, conversation, confidence, connection, appreciation and appropriate support.
Difficult experiences are not the only reason someone might get involved. People may also want movement, connection, appreciation, confidence-building or general wellbeing support.
Shirley's is beginning locally in Solihull and the West Midlands.
See the person first.
Earn it. Build it. Protect it.
For yourself. For others.
Bringing people together.
Shirley's is developing a connected portfolio of programmes, services, events and digital activity. Some offers are being piloted or developed now, while others are longer-term possibilities. We are building with people in retail, listening, testing, learning and refining as we go.
